The DFO Rundown Ep. 260 – The Oilers are back & Gregor is relieved
The Edmonton Oilers have won five games in a row and that means, Jason Gregor has had his hair punishment cut in half. The guys started the show by talking about the Oilers heater and Gregor’s excitement that he will be able to once again shave his head.
Are the Oilers back? Frank seems to believe so. The playoffs are still a ways away, but five straight wins have their fan base feeling a lot better.
That led to some talk about the Western Wild Card race. There are more than a handful of teams still in the mix right now, but who are the legit contenders? Frank and Jason are both high on the Wild and Oilers, plus they each shared a team that they think are pretenders.
They also talked about the Vancouver Canucks and their blueline. Even after acquiring Nikita Zadorov, the team is still reportedly interested in bringing back Ethan Bear. Frank says the Maple Leafs could have interest as well. Frank also provided some insight into what Filip Hronek’s next contract could be.
This week’s Board of Governors meeting also gave us a few interesting headlines. Frank was in attendance and shared some thoughts on the future of best-on-best hockey, the salary cap, and the Coyotes future in Phoenix.
Tyler came in with Fill in the Blank and asked the guys about how many points Connor McDavid will finish the year with, Connor Bedards goal total, and which team has the best goalie tandem?
They wrapped up the pod with some talk about the LA Kings and how tight the race for the Pacific Division will be.
