The DFO Rundown Ep. 359 – The Tkachuks Steal The Show in Montreal & We Play Deadline Matchmaker

Today on the podcast, Jason Gregor was joined by his usual running mate Frank Seravalli, who was live in Montreal for the 4 Nations Face-Off, where things are starting to heat up!

The tournament opener created some interesting questions for Team Canada. Where will Travis Sanheim slot in and can he replace Shea Theodore? Should Head Coach Jon Cooper change up his forward lines? And of course, the big one: should Jordan Binnington continue being the starter? The guys gave their take.

On the American side of things, it was the ‘Tkachuk Show’ on Thursday night as Brady and Matthew absolutely took over the game during USA’s 6-1 win over Team Finland. Team USA certainly has some swagger, but can they keep it rolling on Saturday night against Team Canada?

From there, they talked about the booing of the American national anthem, the league’s change to a ten-minute 3-on-3 overtime, the 3-2-1-0 point system, Sidney Crosby’s performance in game one and other big headlines from the first 48 hours of the tournament.

Tyler then popped in for Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about which players impressed in their first game in Montreal and what deadline deals they’d like to see happening.

The guys wrapped up with some talk about Frank’s annual Trade Deadline Matchmaker article where he looked at some potential fits for some of his trip deadline targets. He had names that he thinks would fit on teams like the Winnipeg Jets, Dallas Stars, and Edmonton Oilers.
