The impact Matt Rempe brings to the New York Rangers’ playoff lineup
Jonny Lazarus from Morning Cuppa Hockey joined Daily Faceoff Live to shed some light on the New York Rangers playoff matchup against the Washington Capitals and what type of impact rookie Matt Rempe brings to the lineup.
Frank Seravalli: I want to ask you about a guy that could be or should be a thorn in the side of Tom Wilson. The Rempire State Building had a big goal in game 1, there was a lot of talks if he should even be in the lineup and how the Rangers should utilize him. You have played hockey at a high level, how do you feel like this tea reacts to Remep and his impact in the game?
Jonny Lazarus: Well, what’s the saying, if things were different they’d be different. I have talked about Rempe since he joined the NHL and what he has done to the city, the team, and the building it’s very hard to measure unless you’re in it and feel it. The players all love him, maybe they’re tired of the questions regarding him since every post game it’s “What did you think about this play by Rempe” he seems to be the center of every conversation right now.
Jonny Lazarus: You got to love Jimmy Vesey and Barclay Goodrow for what they did in game 1 and that tic-tac-toe passing play was amazing. Rempe actually started the play he took it up the middle and then takes it out wide, Vesey and Goodrow had a little passing play behind the net and set him up. For everything he does, the word I like to use is contagious, he’s smiling, he’s happy, he’s enjoying every single second of this ride and it feels like he doesn’t feel pressure. Which is crazy, he’s a 21-year-old kid taking on the Stanley Cup playoffs and its no sweat. Everyone loves him and even opposing fans are starting to come around and like him after seeing all the posts about him and the stuff about his mom attending her first game as well, it’s really cool.
