The Jonah Gadjovich, Brenden Dillon fight is as good as it gets
Fans in Sunrise were treated to a classic battle on Tuesday night.
During a game between the Florida Panthers and the New Jersey Devils, Panthers forward Jonah Gadjovich dropped the gloves with Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon. What transpired was comparable to the Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em days of the ’80s and ’90s.

— Daily Faceoff – Fantasy (@DFOFantasy) November 13, 2024The two exchanged haymakers for what felt like an eternity, with the ESPN broadcast saying that Gadjovich threw over 30 punches, many of them coming with his red sweater pulled over his head. The 26-year-old later admitted that he “saw nothing” during the tilt.
In today’s age, where fighting is becoming less and less of an occurrence, it is exciting to see two players, who are capable of being different makers between the whistles, go at it in a fight that is similar to what many of us saw when the likes of Bob Probert, Tie Domi and Dave Semenko were in their prime.
During Garbage Time on Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Frank Seravalli discussed the fight and what made it enjoyable to watch as a spectator.
Tyler Yaremchuk: These two were just going at it.
Frank Seravalli: This was about as good of a fight as you’re going to see in 2024. This was Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em Robots. What was really impressive was the stamina, too. These guys really went at it for a while. It is so insanely tiring…like, c’mon, are you kidding me how long that went? I remember in World Juniors, we used to call [Jonah Gadjovich] the Man Child. He was such a big dude then. With Brenden Dillon, you can see why he’s a beloved teammate. That fight was just as good as his postgame interview that he did, he’s one of a kind. All time tilt, that was straight out of 1988.
