The Minnesota Wild are heating up at the right time

It is easy for people to notice when a team hits double digits in a game, and believe things are going well.

However, the Minnesota Wild’s 10-7 win over the league-leading Vancouver Canucks is just the climax of how good the team has been playing over the last couple of weeks.

Since the beginning on February, the Wild are 5-0-1, and they have been beating up a bunch of soft teams either. Along with beating the Canucks, their wins have come against the likes of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights.

Players like Joel Eriksson Ek, Matt Boldy have really stepped during this stretch, along with the talented Kirill Kaprizov.

The stretch of positive outcomes has helped the Wild close the gap on a playoff position. Heading into the game on Tuesday night against the Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota is just two points out of the Wild Card spot.

On Tuesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Colby Cohen break down the surprising streak for Minnesota.

Frank Seravalli: It kind of feels like they have been playing themselves into [contenders]. You look at the standings now, and it’s just two points back of that eighth seed. They’ve been playing some of their best hockey of the year as of late, and, not for nothing they’ve been pretty good under their new coach in John Hynes.

Colby Cohen: First of all, John Hynes is a good coach…he’s a details guy that will get the most out of his group. This is a team that is 7-2-1 in their last 10. You look at the other teams hanging around the Wild Card right now…none of those teams are feeling that great about the way they are playing hockey right now. When you see a team comeback from 5-2, and have a statement win like that…they’re definitely playing better than the teams that are around them.
