With 32 teams and seemingly infinite storylines, it’s hard to keep track of all the weekly goings on during the NHL season. That’s why I’m here to help. Every Monday from October to April, I’ll preview the key events, games, narratives and milestones in play for the week.

So what’s on tap for Feb. 24-March 2?

Feb. 27: Brayden Schenn’s 1,000th game

St. Louis Blues @ Washington Capitals, 7:00 p.m. ET

Trade Deadline week inches closer, and rumor talk has startled to bubble around the Blues, but a nice career milestone can serve as a distraction for Schenn, who has close to 700 career points and a Stanley Cup ring. When he plays game No. 1,000, he’ll join brother Luke, who reached the milestone earlier this season. They’ll become just the 10th siblings in NHL history to do it.

March 1: NHL Stadium Series takes over Ohio Stadium

Detroit Red Wings @ Columbus Blue Jackets, 6:00 p.m. ET

Hoping to carry over the fire of the NCAA Big Ten rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State, the Wings and Jackets do battle in a matchup with major implications in the Eastern Conference Wildcard race, the 43rd outdoor game in NHL history. It will mark Detroit’s fifth outdoor game appearance and Columbus’ first.

Connor McDavid’s 700th assist

The Edmonton Oilers superstar sits at 697 career assists. Once he hits 700, he’ll become easily the third-fastest ever to reach the milestone. He’s at 696 games, and the third-fastest is Paul Coffey at 768. With three games this week, McDavid, superhuman as he is, could conceivably reach 700. He’ll slot in behind Wayne Gretzky (478 games, LOL, our GOAT) and Mario Lemieux (579).
