2026 NHL top prospect Gavin McKenna had his historical point streak end at 54 games after going pointless during Sunday’s Game 2 of the WHL Championship between the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Spokane Chiefs.

During the streak, McKenna racked up 40 goals and 137 points, marking the longest active point streak in CHL history.

The Whitehorse, Yukon native tallied 41 goals and 88 assists for 129 points in 56 games during the 2024-25 regular season with Medicine Hat, finishing second in the WHL. Throughout the WHL Playoffs, McKenna has tallied 37 points in 16 playoff games.

McKenna joins Quebec Remparts forward Alexander Radulov as the only players in CHL history to register a 50+ game point streak, who hit the milestone during the 2005-06 season and playoffs. Other members in the top 5 include Brad Richards, who has a 45-game point streak with the Rimouski Oceanic and Easton Cowan, who set a 42-game point streak with the London Knights.

The comparison between McKenna and Radulov’s streaks is quite interesting. McKenna tallied 40 goals and 137 points over the 54-game streak, averaging 2.53 points per game, 41 multi-point outings, eight multi-goal games and a Single-game high of seven points on Mar. 15, 2025.

Meanwhile, Radulov tallied 45 goals and 75 assists for 120 PTS over a 50-game point streak, averaging 2.40 points per game, 37 multi-point outings, 12 multi-goal games and a single-game high of seven points.

McKenna was named WHL player of the year for the 2024-25 season and even missed time while representing Canada at the World Juniors where he had one goal in five games.

The WHL Championship is now tied 1-1, with the series switching to Spokane for the next three games.
