Toronto Maple Leafs acquire Nick Foligno, Stefan Nosen in three-team trade
The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a massive splash acquiring forwards Nick Foligno and Stefan Nosen in a three-team trade.
Much like the trade of David Savard yesterday, the Maple Leafs and Blue Jackets brought in a third team to eat some of the money.
Here’s how the deal breaks down, according to the TSN’s Frank Seravalli:
- Toronto acquires Nick Foligno at 25% of his salary from Columbus and Stefan Nosen from San Jose
- Columbus acquires Toronto’s 2021 1st round pick, Toronto’s 2022 4th round pick while retaining 50% of Foligno’s salary
- San Jose acquires Toronto’s 2021 4th round pick while retaining 25% of Foligno’s salary.

Foligno, 33, has appeared in 42 games with the Blue Jackets this year scoring seven goals and 16 points. He remains, however, an elite defensive forward providing defense at a 12 percent rate above league average.
