Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi has been fined $5,000 for elbowing
The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Department of Safety announced that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Garnet Hathaway during Sunday’s 3-2 loss.
The incident occurred at 5:08 of the third period. Domi was assessed a minor penalty for elbowing.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The 29-year-old has tallied three goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 33 games this season.
Domi previously missed eight games of action due to a lower-body injury. The 29-year-old finished last season with 47 points counting nine goals and 38 assists coming in 80 contests. He also led the squad with 118 penalty minutes.
Toronto re-signed Domi to a four-year contract. The deal will carry a $3.75 million cap hit through the 2027-28 season. Domi’s new contract marks the first time in four years that he has signed a multi-year contract. He signed a two-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets with a cap hit of $5.3 million in October 2020.
In all, through 680 career contests counting stops with Arizona, the Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, and Toronto, Domi has tallied 130 goals and 293 assists for 423 points. Domi was originally chosen 12th overall by Arizona in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Toronto currently sits first in the Atlantic Division with a 26-13-2 and 54 points through 41 games. The Maple Leafs are slated to face the Flyers in a rematch on Tuesday, the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday and the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.
