Toronto Maple Leafs’ prospect Easton Cowan’s historic 65-game point streak came to an end Friday night, as the London Knights’ forward was held off the scoresheet in a 3-1 win over the Peterborough Petes.
And that's it. Easton Cowan's streak ends at 65 regular-season games.

“It was going to happen one day,” Cowan told London Free Press reporter Ryan Pyette after the game. “I’m just happy we got this win. Good teams find a way.”
The 19-year-old Cowan, taken No. 28 overall by the Leafs in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, now has 18 goals and 22 assists for 40 points in 30 games this season.
Cowan’s streak began Nov. 25, 2023, going on to score at least a point in the final 36 regular-season games of the 2023-24 campaign, then he got on the scoresheet in his first 29 games in 2024-25.
There were many interruptions during that period, including injuries, two World Junior Championship appearances and two visits to Maple Leafs training camp.
Pyette, who covers the Knights and other sports in London, asked Cowan if the streak weighed on his mind.
“I haven’t been thinking about it. I just play the game,” he said. “I hit the crossbar there (in the third period). Sometimes, they don’t go your way. It ended and that’s it.”
Cowan’s run was considered unofficial by the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and Ontario Hockey League (OHL) because it happened over two seasons. Mario Lemieux has the official record of 61 straight games with the Laval Voisins in 1983-84, when the Hockey Hall of Famer scored 133 goals and 149 assists for 282 points, a record that still stands today.
Now in his third full OHL season, Cowan has 73 goals and 118 assists for 191 points in 159 career regular-season games.
