The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed goaltender Anthony Stolarz to a two-year contract with a $2.5 million cap hit, according to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli.

Stolarz was an unrestricted free agent after the conclusion of his one-year contract with a $1.1 million cap hit that he signed with the Florida Panthers. There are currently no details regarding any no-move/no-trade clauses or signing bonuses with this contract.

Stolarz had a career year with the Panthers, as in 27 games he had a 16-7-2 record, a .925% save percentage, 2 shutouts and a 21.7 goals saved above expected, which was seventh in the league.

Stolarz also got into one playoff game with the Panthers on their run to the Stanley Cup, playing the final 35 minutes of their 8-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers in the Cup Final, allowing three goals for an .842% save%.

The Leafs also signed goaltender Matt Murray to a contract, bringing back the veteran netminder on a one-year, $875,000 deal, according to TSN insider Darren Dreger.

Murray was a UFA after the conclusion of his four-year contract with a $6.25 million cap hit that he signed with the Ottawa Senators. He missed most of the 2023-24 season due to a hip injury, never playing at the NHL level with the Leafs, but playing three games on a conditioning stint in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, where he had a 1-2 record and an .846% save%.

These weren’t the only goalie contracts that the Leafs handed out, as they also signed Joseph Woll to a three-year contract with a $3.66 cap hit. After all of these deals and the signings of Max Domi, Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, they have just $1.2 million in cap space with Connor Dewar and Nick Robertson remaining as restricted free agents, although the latter player has also announced that he won’t be signing with the Leafs and is requesting a trade.
