One of the longest-standing Philadelphia Flyers might be on the move.

According to Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Di Marco, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets are among a handful of teams that have expressed interest in Flyers forward Scott Laughton.

Thanks to another disappointing season, the Flyers have cause for looking to move some players to gain assets for the future. Laughton has one more season remaining on his five-year contract, carrying a $3 million AAV through the 2025-26 campaign.

Laughton certainly is an appealing player. Currently centering the second line in Philadelphia, the 30-year-old is a solid player who can provide any playoff contender some secondary scoring, along with enhancing the depth down the middle of their lineup.

The Oakville, Ontario native is a little off the scoring pace that led to him potting a career-high 43 points during the 2022-23 season, but he has managed to hit double digits in goals for the seventh time in his 10-year NHL career. Through 53 games this season, Laughton has posted 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points, placing him tied for fifth on the Flyers in scoring.

In 654 NHL appearances, Laughton has scored 105 goals and 158 assists for 263 points. He’s also notched six goals and 10 points in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games, last seeing postseason action during the 2020 bubble playoffs.

The interest for Laughton does shake up conversations and predictions with less than a month to go before the NHL Trade Deadline, as the veteran hasn’t really been high on many trade boards, but there are many teams that could utilize Laughton’s talents in order to make a deep run this postseason.

The Flyers (23-26-7) are last in the Metropolitan Division, eight points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Jets (39-14-3) have the best record in the NHL, while the Leafs (33-19-2) fight for first in the Atlantic Division.
