The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Saturday the team had signed forward Ryan Kirwan to a two-year contract Saturday. He will immediately report to their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.

The Arizona State Sun Devil product is coming off a strong 2024-25 season, scoring 26 goals and 13 assists for 39 points in 37 games. In the previous three seasons of college hockey, Kirwan was at Penn State, scoring 34 goals and 35 assists for 69 points during that span. In four total years, she’s scored 60 goals and 48 assists for 108 points in 137 career college hockey games.

Before enrolling in college, Kirwan spent two seasons playing in the United States Hockey League (USHL). In 100 career games with the Madison Capitols and Green Bay Gamblers, the DeWitt, N.Y., native scored 46 goals and 32 assists for 78 points.

Kirwan is the third college prospect to sign with the Maple Leafs this week. Defenseman John Prokop from the Union College Garnet Chargers signed with the team on March 20, then they added forward Luke Haymes out of Dartmouth on March 24.

Both Prokop and Haymes played for the Marlies Saturday night against the Belleville Senators.

Following the Leafs’ 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings Saturday night, Toronto is 44-25-4 with 92 points, first in the Atlantic Division. Mitch Marner leads the team with 90 points, scoring 22 goals and recording 68 assists in 72 games. William Nylander leads the team in goals with 42, to go along with 37 assists for 79 points. John Tavares scored twice Saturday, and now has 35 goals and 34 assists for 69 points.

The Leafs’ next game is Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks, then they head home to take on the Florida Panthers next Wednesday.
