The Toronto Sceptres announced Sunday that forward Sarah Nurse has been activated from Long-Term Injured Reserve and will be available to play in their Sunday afternoon matchup against the Montreal Victoire.

Nurse suffered a lower-body injury in Game 4 of the Rivalry Series on Feb. 6. The 30-year-old was involved in an awkward collision with U.S. forward and Sceptres teammate Jesse Compher, forcing Nurse to leave the game.

Before the injury, Nurse had five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 15 games with the Sceptres this season. Despite missing nine games, Nurse is fifth on the team in points.

Last season, Nurse, a native of Hamilton, Ont., 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 24 games with Toronto, second on the team in points. In 39 career PWHL games, Nurse has 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points.

Internationally, Nurse has represented Canada twice at the Olympics, winning gold at Beijing 2022 and silver in PyeongChang 2018.

To make room for Nurse on the active roster, Toronto placed rookie forward Noemi Neubauerova on the team’s Reserve Player List. In 20 games this season, the Czech forward has no points and four penalty minutes.

Going into Sunday’s game, the Sceptres are 10-2-5-7 with 39 points, third in the PWHL standings. After a 10-day break, the team played the New York Sirens last Wednesday, winning 2-1 at home in front of 8,351 at Coca-Cola Coliseum. Forward Daryl Watts, who joined the club in the offseason after a productive season with the Ottawa Charge, scored both of Toronto’s goals, giving her eight on the season.

After Sunday’s game against the Victoire, the Sceptres will head to Massachusetts to take on the Boston Fleet next Wednesday.
