Toronto took part in the first Battle on Bay Street last February, when the team, then known as PWHL Toronto, played in front of a sold-out crowd of 19.285 fans against PWHL Montreal, now known as the Victoire. At the time, the game set the all-time women’s hockey attendance record.
The attendance record was broken months later when Montreal hosted Toronto at the Bell Centre, home of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens, when 21,105 fans saw the two teams square off.
“In the inaugural season of the PWHL, we saw our city show up for us time and time again. We sold out every home game, including selling out our game at Scotiabank Arena in less than a day,” Sceptres captain Blayre Turnbull said in a statement. “We cannot wait to return to Scotiabank Arena! Having the chance to play at Toronto’s iconic venue again is very exciting and an incredible experience to share with the newest members of our team.”
The Sceptres opened the 2024-25 season with a 3-1 win over the Boston Fleet last Saturday, then followed up with a 3-2 loss to the Ottawa Charge on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Sirens defeated the defending Walter Cup champion Minnesota Frost 4-3 in overtime on Sunday. They will face the Victoire Wednesday night in Montreal.
