Two NHL players placed on waivers for Oct. 22

A couple of players with varying levels of experience are being made available to the other 31 teams in the NHL.
On Thursday, the Philadelphia Flyers placed forward Garrett Wilson on waivers, as have the St. Louis Blues with center Zach Dean.
If either player clears on Friday, they’ll be eligible to be assigned to their respective American Hockey League affiliates.
Both Wilson and Dean started the 2026-27 season in the NHL. Wilson, fresh off signing a one-year contract just before the regular season began, has appeared in just two games thus far, dressing in a loss to the Boston Bruins on Oct. 10, as well as the Flyers’ first victory of the season, a win over the Ottawa Senators last Saturday. He has yet to register a point, but has a plus/minus of -2 while averaging 9:49 of ice time per game.
The 35-year-old appeared in just three games with the Flyers last season, spending most of the year with the team’s primary affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. There, he posted four goals and 16 assists for 54 points.
Wilson’s contract is a two-way deal with an NHL cap hit of $850,000 and a minor-league salary of $425,000. In 89 regular-season games in the NHL, Wilson has posted two goals and eight points, with another two points in 10 postseason contests.
Dean has dressed in three games thus far, his first NHL experience since he played nine games during the 2023-24 season. Like Wilson, Dean has gone pointless, with a -4 rating and an average time on ice of 9:58. In 2025-26, Dean played 36 games for the Springfield Thunderbirds, the Blues’ top farm team, posting four goals and 14 points.
Dean has yet to score a point in the NHL. He’s also on a one-year, two-way contract, with an NHL salary of $850,000 and an AHL cap hit of $95,000.
Vegas Golden Knights forward Lukas Cormier was the only player put on waivers on Wednesday. He cleared waivers and is expected to join the Henderson Silver Knights.
