The Utah Hockey Club announced on social media that goaltender Connor Ingram suffered an upper-body injury and is not expected to return to Sunday’s game against the Washington Capitals.

While it wasn’t confirmed what caused the injury, it appeared Ingram looked uncomfortable after stopping an Alex Ovechkin slap shot on the power play in the first period.

Ingram went into the game with a 9-7-4 record, an .885 save percentage (SV%) and 3.16 goals against average (GAA). Now in his fourth NHL season, Ingram, taken in the third round by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has a 39-43-15 record with a .902 SV% and 3.11 GAA with Utah, the Arizona Coyotes and Nashville Predators.

Clayton Keller leads in all offensive categories, scoring 20 goals and 39 assists for 59 points. The Utah HC captain has a sizeable gap between him and the team’s second-highest point producer, Logan Cooley, who has 43 points by way of 15 goals and 28 assists.

The team’s starting goalie, Karel Vejmelka, has a 12-15-4 record with a .907 SV% and 2.57 GAA in 33 games with Utah this season. Vejmelka, taken in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, is now in his fourth NHL season, posting a 56-90-15 record with a .900 SV% and 3.29 GAA in 173 appearances.

Utah went into Sunday’s game against the Capitals with a 23-23-9 record and 55 points, fifth in the Central Division and eight points out of a playoff spot. After the game, the team will take two weeks off for the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. Two of Utah’s players will represent Finland: defensemen Olli Maatta and Juuso Valimaki.
