Lavoie spent the 2024-25 campaign with the Cape Breton Eagles of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) where he racked up 15 goals and 40 assists for 55 points in 60 games. Lavoie ranked first among Eagles’ defenders and fourth among all Eagles’ skaters in points. A three-time selection to the QMJHL Team of the Week, Lavoie found the scoresheet in 35 of his 60 contests and posted 13 multi-point performances.
The 19-year-old has tallied one assist in three QMJHL Playoff contests as Cape Breton is currently trailing the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 2-1 in their QMJHL Playoff series.
Lavoie will likely be returned to the QMJHL for a fourth season in the fall as he is not old enough for a full-time American Hockey League (AHL) assignment. It is possible for Lavoie to see some action with Utah’s AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners, this season on a tryout agreement. He will be joining Utah’s No. 2 and 3-ranked defense prospects in Maveric Lamoureux and Artem Duda.
Throughout his QMJHL career, Lavoie has racked up 20 goals and 75 assists for 95 points and 81 PIM in 184 career QMJHL regular-season contests and added one goal and six points and 10 PIM in 21 postseason appearances.
Utah selected Lavoie with a pick Arizona acquired from the Avalanche in the 2021 Darcy Kuemper trade.
The Repentigny, Quebec, native also skated for Canada Black at the 2022 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, tallying 1-1-2 in seven games.
