Utah’s Connor Ingram out day-to-day; Jaxson Stauber called up from AHL
The Utah Hockey Club announced Wednesday that goaltender Connor Ingram is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. In a corresponding move, the team has recalled Jaxson Stauber from the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners on an emergency basis.
Ingram has carried the starting duties in Utah this season, making 13 appearances in which he has come away with a 6-4-3 showing alongside an .871 save percentage and 3.61 goals-against average. Despite his winning record, Ingram has struggled in recent weeks, allowing at least three goals in three of his past four outings. Facing the Washington Capitals on Monday, Ingram allowed four goals on only 13 shots before being relieved by Karel Vejmelka early in the second period. The Capitals went on to a 6-2 victory.
In Ingram’s absence, Utah will turn to Vejmelka and Stauber. Despite finding the win column on just one occasion through seven appearances this season, Vejmelka has shined as he owns a .915 save percentage alongside a 2.58 goals-against average. His lone win on the season came last Wednesday in a 4-1 decision over the Carolina Hurricanes that saw him turn aside a career-high 49 shots en route the victory.
As for Stauber, the Minnesota native has impressed in the minor ranks this season as he owns a 5-2-0 record with a .930 save percentage and 2.29 goals-against average. He signed a one-year, two-way contract with Utah this past July.
Stauber, 25, has previously made six appearances at the NHL level, all coming with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2022-23 campaign in which he combined for five victories alongside a .911 save percentage and 2.81 goals-against average. Stauber secured his first-ever NHL win with a 5-3 decision over the St. Louis Blues in January 2023 that saw him turn aside 29 shots en route to the victory.
Utah returns to the ice Thursday when it opens a four-game road trip against the Boston Bruins.
