Utah’s Ryan Smith on Pat McAfee show: Mammoth, Yeti top names for new hockey team

Utah’s Ryan Smith appeared on the popular Pat McAfee Show today and gave a hint towards a couple of the names that are among the top four in terms of the fan vote for the Utah NHL franchise.

Pat asked Ryan Smith during a Facetime call “What is the early favorite for a name?” Smith was quick and eager to respond, “I think our four like we’ve got our four, I think Mammoth is up there, Yeti is up there, it should be good.”

The fan vote by Smith Entertainment Group opened up on May 22.

This was not the first time that Smith had revealed info on The Pat McAfee Show, Smith was on the show a month ago where he revealed “We’re doing a bracket.” The bracket would be done to determine the name of Utah’s first NHL franchise. “We’re gonna take this down from like eight all the way down and the fans are gonna vote for this,” Smith said.

“Utah’s NHL team is a community asset, and we want to make sure that the community has a say in what the name is,” SEG chairman and governor of Utah’s NHL team Ryan Smith said in a statement a couple of weeks ago. “Utah has shown up for this team from the moment the NHL awarded us the franchise less than three weeks ago, and it is only fitting that our fans get the rare opportunity to help name the team they’ll be cheering for.”
