Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin has announced that the team has signed winger Anri Ravinskis to a two-year, entry-level contract with an $872,500 cap hit.

The Riga, Latvian native is an undrafted free agent signing by the Canucks, joining the team after impressing them with his performance this season.

“Anri is a player our group has been watching closely this year in Finland and more recently at the World Hockey Championships in Sweden,” said Allvin in a statement announcing the signing. “Finding European free agents like Anri is a good way for our organization to improve its depth. We like his size and body type and look forward to helping him refine his skills and get used to the North American pro game.”

Ravinskis spent his 2024-25 season in Finland, split between the top two leagues in the country. During his time in the second-tier league, Mestis, he was with Kettera Imatra, where he had 8 goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 23 games. When in the top-tier league SM-liiga, he played with HPK Hameenlinna, where he had 8 goals and 9 assists for 17 points in 27 games. He also played in three playoff games for HPK Hameenlinna, where he was held pointless.

Ravinskis just finished playing with the Latvian national team at the IIHF Men’s World Hockey Championship, where he had 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points in 7 games during the round robin portion of the tournament, with Lativa failing to qualify for the playoffs.

“He’s a big power forward style player,” said Steven Ellis, Daily Faceoff’s prospect analyst. “He has some good speed and he plays decent defensive hockey. I don’t think there’s enough there to suggest he’ll ever be a full-time NHL player, but I think he’s got the work ethic to at least be a good AHL player.”

Ravinskis is the Canucks’ second signing of the offseason, with them also signing 2023 first-round pick Tom Willander to a three-year, entry-level contract last week. Vancouver will look to return to the playoffs after a disappointing 2024-25 season that saw them miss out on the postseason by six points with a 38-30-14 record.
