Golden Knights can’t afford to go down 0-2 against Oilers

After falling 4-2 in Game 1 versus the Edmonton Oilers, the Vegas Golden Knights are looking for a big rebound in Game 2 on Thursday.
On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Frank Seravalli recapped the Golden Knights’ performance in the series opener and emphasized how critical it is to score a victory in the second game.
Tyler Yaremchuk: The Washington Capitals and Golden Knights are the two home teams and two favorites who lost Game 1. When you look at these two, which one needs a win more tonight? Who would you be less confident in coming back from two games down? Dropping two at home seems like such a bigger hole than dropping two on the road.
Frank Seravalli: If the Golden Knights lose Game 2, there is an almost zero percent chance that they win this series. The way Edmonton has played, it doesn’t matter what kind of hole that they are in, they have found a way out. Their depth scoring has been important. Speaking of a team on their heels, the Golden Knights were gasping in Game 1 just to get the puck out of their end and they couldn’t even muster an attack. It was relentless. It was wave after wave from the Oilers for those final 50 minutes to the point where the dam just finally broke in the third period with the goals that they scored. It was a very clean performance by Edmonton if you can get past the first 10 minutes, and that’s exactly what they needed. If you were to look at the other series, I’d say if the Capitals lose both games on home ice to start, I still think this is very tight. I think they have a chance to go and win both in Carolina. I just don’t see Vegas being in a spot where they can come back anything better than down 3-1. At worst, the Oilers are sawing off both games on home ice and then figuring it out from there.
