Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Logan Thompson day-to-day with upper-body injury
The goaltending injury bug around the league has hit the Vegas Golden Knights hard, giving everyone 2017-18 vibes.
On Wednesday, the team announced that goaltender Logan Thompson is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
In the meantime, the Golden Knights called up Isaiah Saville from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights.
It is unclear when and where the latest injury to Thompson occurred, but it could not have a worse time for Vegas. On Sunday against the Ottawa Senators, Adin Hill, who was making his first start since late November, left the game in discomfort less than seven minutes into the game. He is also listed as day-to-day, though with a lower-body injury.

Thompson seemingly had a costly couple of lower-body injuries late in the 2022-23 season, but Hill stepped up come playoff time, leading the Golden Knights to their first Stanley Cup.
Thompson is 10-5-3 so far this season, losing two of his last three decisions. The 26-year-old has posted a 2.71 goals-against average and .905 save percentage in 19 appearances.
This is the first time Isaiah Saville has been called up to the NHL. The former Omaha Maverick has spent the past two-plus campaigns in the Golden Knights’ system, but missed the opening two months of this season with an undisclosed injury. He has won his three games with the Silver Knights, giving up four goals on 80 shots. In 21 total AHL appearances, the 23-year-old is 13-6-0, with a 2.48 GAA and .918 SV%.
In a similar situation to what happened during the franchise’s inaugural season, Vegas has two goalies that started this season in the minors playing on the top club. Saville joins Jiri Patera, who has a couple of NHL games under his belt.
With the Golden Knights (21-7-5) set to face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, they still hold the best record in the league, just one point ahead of the Vancouver Canucks.
