Golden Knights select Jakob Ihs-Wozniak No. 55 overall in 2025 NHL Draft

The Vegas Golden Knights have selected right winger Jakob Ihs-Wozniak with the 55th overall selection of the 2025 NHL Draft on Saturday at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
Schmidt was projected to be selected 36th overall on average across all of the main draft rankings, going as high as 23rd and as low as 59th. He was also ranked eighth among European skaters by NHL Central Scouting. Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis projected him to go in the second round.
Ellis had this to say about Ihs-Wozniak in his most recent draft rankings:
“Ihs-Wozniak struggled out of the gate this year, but he ended the season as one of Sweden’s top young players. He closed with a great showing at the U-18s, which scouts were thrilled to see after a quiet Hlinka Gretzky Cup. That helped him get back into the first-round conversation, although I don’t think he’s rounded enough to make it happen. Ihs Wozniak is streaky, but the goal-scoring instincts are definitely there. He just needs to figure out how to be more consistent if he’s going to excel at the next level. But in terms of raw talent, Ihs-Wozniak has loads of it and I love his shot.”
Ihs-Wozniak spent the majority of his season with Lulea HF’s U-20 Nationell team, where he had 23 goals and 34 assists for 57 points in 40 games in the regular season. He also had three goals and an assist for four points in three playoff games for the team.
Ihs-Wozniak also got a stint of top-flight action playing in the Swedish Hockey League with the main Lulea HF team, where he had one goal and one assist for two points in 13 games. He played in two playoff games with the team, where he was held without a point.
Ihs-Wozniak also got into some playoff action with Lulea HF’s U-18 Nationell team, where he had four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in eight games.
Ihs-Wozniak also got some international play in, joining Team Sweden for the 2025 IIHF World U-18 Championship, where he had five goals and two assists for seven points in seven games. Sweden went on to win their seventh silver medal in the tournament.
