The Vegas Golden Knights announced on social media that forward Mark Stone will not return to Saturday’s Game 3 matchup against the Edmonton Oilers after suffering an upper-body injury.

Stone’s last shift came with six minutes to go in the first period, when the Golden Knights’ captain slipped and appeared to make contact with Oilers’ forward Corey Perry’s leg.

Going into Saturday night, the Oilers held a 2-0 series lead over the Golden Knights, thanks to a 4-2 win in Game 1 and a 5-4 overtime win in Game 2.

Before Saturday, Stone has four goals and four assists for eight points in eight playoff games this spring. During the 2024-25 regular season, Stone scored 19 goals and recorded 48 assists – a new career high for assists – for 67 points in 66 games.

Now in his 13th NHL season, the Winnipeg native has 231 goals and 403 assists for 634 points in 706 career regular-season games with the Golden Knights and Ottawa Senators. His highest goal and point total in a single season came in 2018-19, a season he split with the Senators and Golden Knights, finishing with 33 goals and 73 points.

Stone has also played in 111 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring 41 goals and 44 assists for 85 points. He captained the Golden Knights to their first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history in 2023, recording 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points.

Vegas finished 2024-25 with 50-22-10 record and 110 points, clinching the Pacific Division title for the fourth time in eight seasons. Jack Eichel lead the team in assists and points with 66 and 94, respectively. Pavel Dorofeyev led in goals with 35.
