Golden Knights sign Mark Stone to two-year extension

The Vegas Golden Knights announced Saturday they have signed captain Mark Stone to a two-year, $18-million contract extension that will pay him $9 million annually.

The contract will kick in after the upcoming season when the eight-year, $76-million contract extension he signed in 2019 expires.

In 2025-26, Stone scored 28 goals and recorded 45 assists, which resulted in a career-high 73 points in 60 regular-season games. He also posted seven goals and five assists for 12 points in 17 playoff games, helping lead the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup Final.

Across 14 NHL seasons, Stone, a native of Winnipeg, has 259 goals and 448 assists for 707 points in 766 career regular-season games with the Golden Knights and Ottawa Senators. He’s also played in 129 career playoff games, where he posted 48 goals and 49 assists for 97 points.

Stone, a two-time Selke Trophy finalist, led the Golden Knights to their first Stanley Cup championship in 2023. In 22 games, he scored 11 goals and recorded 13 assists for 24 points.

Stone was taken by the Senators in the sixth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He played his junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League, where in parts of four seasons, he scored 106 goals and recorded 190 points in 296 career games.

Internationally, Stone has represented Canada on numerous occasions. He earned a silver medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy; he also helped Canada win the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025.
