Reilly Smith may have a second career once he retires from hockey.

The Vegas Golden Knights’ forward was in the crowd for a comedy show in Las Vegas last week as Will Burkart took the stage. While the comedian was doing crowd work, he pointed to Smith and asked if he works during the week, with Smith saying he has summers off.

When asked if he was a teacher, Smith said no, but that he was a hockey player.

“Who do you play hockey for? How high are we (talking)?” Burkart asked. Someone in the audience interjected, saying “Very high!” and a “Go Knights Go!” chant started in the crowd.

“I’m honored that you’re here, bro,” Burkart said. “I just got nervous, all of a sudden.”

The two fist bumped, then Burkart asked if Smith gets recognized a lot.

“Yeah, sometimes in Vegas,” Smith said.

“Sometimes when people with a microphone call you out in front of a room,” Burkart said to a roaring applause.

The highlight of the interaction came when Burkart asked Smith if he has all his teeth, with the NHL forward nonchalantly pulling out partial dentures.

“Oh s–t bro!” Burkart exclaimed. “He just took out a tooth!”

Smith, 34, has become a fan favorite in Vegas, having been part of the team’s original 2017-18 roster and spending six full seasons with the Golden Knights before helping them win their first Stanley Cup championship in 2023. After pit stops with the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers, Smith was traded back to Vegas last season.

In 14 NHL seasons, Smith has 226 goals and 327 assists for 553 points in 919 career regular-season games with the Knights, Penguins, Rangers, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers.

He’s also scored 29 goals and 54 assists for 83 points in 117 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Smith reached career highs in assists and points in 2017-18 with 38 helpers and 60 total points. He scored a career-high 27 goals in 2019-20.

Smith was a third-round pick for the Stars in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
