The Vegas Golden Knights have signed forward David Edstrom to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Saturday.

Edstrom was selected 32nd overall by the Golden Knights last month after a strong end to the season with Sweden’s U-18 team. Paired with Otto Stenberg, the duo was one of the best at the U-18 World Hockey Championship, leading the team to a silver medal after losing to USA in the gold medal game.

Edstrom spent most of the season with Vastra Frolunda’s U-20 team, scoring 15 goals and 28 points in 28 games. Most notably, Edstrom skated in 11 games with Frolunda’s SHL squad, recording two goals and four points while being an effective presence on the pro squad.

Edstrom is known for being an excellent skater with good hockey IQ. At 6-foot-3, he has great size for a power forward, and he’s a good dual-threat as a shooter and a passer. Edstrom is expected to spend the season with Frolunda’s senior team, which will be a good test of his abilities.

The Golden Knights finished with a 51-22-9 record in the 2022-23 season, giving them 111 points which was good enough for first in the Division and 5th in the league. They defeated the Florida Panthers to win the franchise’s first Stanley Cup.
