Islanders sign Vladimir Dravecky to three-year entry-level contract

The New York Islanders announced Wednesday they signed defenseman Vladimir Dravecky to a three-year, entry-level contract.
In four games with the Ontario Hockey League’s Guelph Storm this season, Dravecky has one goal and three assists for four points.
The 18-year-old was taken by the Islanders in the fifth round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft after making his North American debut with the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs in 2025-26. Through 58 games, he scored nine goals and added 19 assists for 28 points.
He also recorded three assists in 11 playoff games, helping Brantford reach the OHL’s Eastern Conference Final.
In 2024-25, Dravecky played in Sweden with Rogle BK’s junior teaam. He had six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 37 games.
Internationally, the right-handed blueliner played for Czechia at the 2026 World Junior Championship, where he helped them earn a silver medal. He also represented Czechia at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where he recorded three assists in five games and earned a silver medal.
Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis ranked Dravecky No. 70 in his final top-120 draft rankings for 2026. According to Ellis:
“I really like Dravecky when he’s rushing the puck, or getting tasked with late-game, energy-filled shutdown situations,” Ellis wrote. “He seems to play better the more he skates, and he defends the rush well. There isn’t anything spectacular about Dravecky’s game, but he’s stable at both ends and doesn’t take many unnecessary risks.
“I think Dravecky will be a safe pick, but one who probably tops out as a third-pair, defensively responsible option,” he added.
