Even though it happened two days ago, people are still talking about the hit that saw two of the best players in the NHL collide.

It was revealed on Tuesday that Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl was not going to receive any supplemental discipline for his on Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. Draisaitl caught Barkov with what looked like a high hit near the halfway mark of the second period on Monday night. Barkov was forced to leave the game, while Draisaitl was handed a two-minute minor for roughing.

Barkov did not skate with the team on Tuesday, but returned to full practice on Wednesday prior to the Panthers flying out to Edmonton.

The hit has left folks taking a stand on both sides of the issue. Some were disappointed that Draisaitl should have received a suspension, while others cited that it was just a hockey play with a bad result.

On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Colby Cohen discuss whether or not Draisaitl should have received supplemental discipline for the hit on Barkov.

Colby Cohen: I just want to say that I’m okay with all of it, I really am. I have yet to see something that has been so egregious to me that I’m ready to keep someone out for a game, throw the book at them. I said this from the get-go, I didn’t think that [hit on Barkov] deserved anything more than two minutes. Obviously, you don’t like the outcome, you don’t like seeing a player hurt, but listen, it’s a contact sport. It’s a rough sport.

I didn’t look at this as a vicious flying elbow. To me, it came more from the side…sure, it was directly into the side of the face of Barkov…again, I am okay with how things are getting spicy.
