Washington Capitals sign Pierrick Dube to entry-level contract

Washington Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan announced that the club has signed Pierrick Dube to a two-year, entry-level contract. The contract has an average annual value (AAV) of $870,000.

The undrafted forward spent the 2022-23 season with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League (AHL); he notched 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points in 44 games and ranked seventh among Laval skaters. Dube also spent time in the ECHL with the Trois-Rivieres Lions, scoring nine goals and 14 points in nine games before earning a promotion to the AHL.
Dube spent four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), and in 2019-20 he notched 19 goals and 26 assists for 45 points in 56 games. He represented France at the IIHF World Junior Championships in the B-Division. He notched nine points in five games; he was voted as the U20 WJC D1B Best Forward and helped France capture a silver medal. He was the top player for France and had the best face-off percentage throughout the tournament at 76.19%.
In 2020-21, Dube played just 10 games for the Remparts, collecting nine points in that frame before he was traded to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, where he tallied 19 points in 14 games and added 14 points in nine postseason games. Then, in 201-22, Dube was dealt from the Sagueneens to the Shawinigan Cataractes, where he went on to collect 44 points in 36 games and added 12 goals and 18 points in 16 QMJHL Playoff games as the Cataractes captured the Gillies-Courteau Trophy as QMJJHL Champions. Dube played in four games at the 2022 Memorial Cup held in Saint John, notching one goal and one assist.
