Wednesday’s game between Flames and Kings postponed due to Los Angeles wildfires

Wednesday night’s contest between a pair of Pacific Division foes in the Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings has been postponed as a result of the ongoing devastating fires in Southern California, reports Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli.

Multiple ongoing wildfires have destroyed more than 1,000 structures and homes and evacuated more than 80,000 people from the Greater Los Angeles area. With firefighting efforts hampered by severe wind conditions, a state of emergency has been put in effect for the area.

A make-up date for Wednesday’s game has not yet been announced.

Wednesday’s contest would have marked the second of three meetups between the Flames and Kings this season. On November 11, the Flames defeated the Kings 3-0 on home ice, with forwards Mikael Backlund, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Kevin Rooney chipping in offensively en route to the win. Veteran left winger Trevor Moore provided the lone goal for Los Angeles.

The Flames and Kings are also scheduled to play Saturday in Calgary.

On the season, the Kings sit third place in the Pacific Division with a record of 23-10-5 and 51 points. Offensively, the Kings are led by captain Anze Kopitar who has pushed the pace with a team-leading 39 points counting 12 goals and 27 assists through 38 games. Los Angeles also leads the NHL with the fewest goals against, having allowed just 96 goals in 2024-25. Between the pipes, the club has primarily split duties between David Rittich and Darcy Kuemper, each with 11 wins, and Kuemper among the league leaders with a .920 save percentage.

For the Flames, the club continues to battle for a playoff position in the Western Conference, sitting 19-14-7 and just behind the Vancouver Canucks for the second wildcard slot due to a tiebreaker. Huberdeau headlines the Flames this season, leading the team with 17 goals and 30 points.
