With the Chicago Blackhawks inking goaltender Petr Mrazek to a $8.5 million contract extension, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk break down what the projection will be for the rest of the goalie market.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Frank, the Blackhawks extended goaltender Petr Mrazek to a new deal, the AAV is just north of $4 million. How will this new contract impact the goalie market ahead of the deadline because it was a name that a lot of people assumed would be moved for a team looking for a backup? Does this maybe bring up the prices up for guys like Jake Allen and Marc-Andre Fleury?

Frank Seravalli: I don’t know if it brings up the prices but it certainly brings the demand up since the supply is lacking. The real list of goalies that the team trusts to make an impact is not really a long one and I don’t know if for many of those teams that Mrazek was on there.

Frank Seravalli: You don’t have to go back far and even to his tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs where he struggled but I also know he has put in the work to fix his game and make changes and he gets rewarded with a very generous extension. This is a guy who probably arrived in Chicago thinking that his career was over and he gets $8.5 million from the Blackhawks.
