The 2024 NHL Draft kicks off on Friday and the Chicago Blackhawks hold two first-round selections.

Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Frank Seravalli weighed in on what Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks might do with those two selections. Prospect analyst Steven Ellis also chimed in on Chicago’s prospect pool.

The Blackhawks are slated to pick No. 2 overall and No. 18 overall on Friday and will make selections No. 34 and No. 50 on Saturday in the second round.

Last year, Chicago held the No. 1 overall pick and took Connor Bedard. Bedard led all NHL rookies with 22 goals and 61 points in 68 games during the 2023-24 campaign.

Tyler Yaremchuk: The Blackhawks have two firsts and two second-round picks, will they move any of those to try and get some more ready NHL scorers?

Frank Seravali: No. I could see them moving on up from No.18 depending on how the board falls but I don’t think they plan on moving those pieces to get better. They seem to have a timeline and are set on what that is.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Bedard headlines that group of young players in Chicago. With the talent that has not quite made the NHL yet where do you rank that group?

Steven Ellis: They are a top-5 prospect pool. Frank Nazar is a big name to headline there, they have two great goalies in the system with Adam Gajan and Drew Commesso too. This is a team that might not have a ton of superstar power but they have depth at every position and very few teams have that.
