Wild acquire Tyler Madden from Kings for Joseph Cecconi

The Minnesota Wild acquired forward Tyler Madden from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for defenseman Joseph Cecconi on Wednesday night.

Both players will report to their new team’s respective AHL affiliates.

Madden has eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 47 games with the Ontario Reign this season. In five AHL seasons, the 25-year-old Madden has 58 goals and 70 assists for 128 points in 251 career games with the Reign.

Before turning professional, Madden, a third-round pick by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, has 31 goals and 34 assists for 65 points in two seasons of college hockey with Northeastern University.

Meanwhile, Cecconi, has two goals and 12 assists for 14 points in 51 games with the Iowa Wild this year. Now in his seventh AHL season, Cecconi, 27, has 10 goals and 57 assists for 67 points in 326 regular-season games with the Wild, Rochester Americans and Texas Stars.

Taken in the fifth round by the Dallas Stars in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Cecconi played four seasons of college hockey with the University of Michigan, scoring nine goals and 53 assists for 62 points in 147 career games.

The Wild are 34-20-4 with 72 points, third in the Central Division. Kirill Kaprizov still leads the team in scoring with 52 points, scoring 23 goals and 29 assists, despite not having played since Jan. 26. Matt Boldy is second with 51 points.

As for the Kings, they’re 31-17-7 with 69 points, third in the Pacific Division. Adrian Kempe has a team-leading 48 points, via 25 goals and 23 assists. Captain Anze Kopitar has 46 points.
