Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber left Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Blues with an upper-body injury, with the team confirming on social media that he would not return.

The Athletic’s Michael Russo was the first one to report that Faber had left the game.

According to Russo, Faber missed the final 9:42 of the first period and did not return to the bench for the second.

Through 40 games this season, the Wild scored five goals and 15 assists for 20 points. Now in his second season, Faber has scored 13 goals and 54 assists for 67 points in 124 career NHL regular-season games.

Taken in the second round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Faber spent three seasons playing college hockey with the Big Ten’s Minnesota Badgers. He scored seven goals and 46 assists for 53 points in 97 career games.

Before going to college, Faber spent parts of two seasons with the U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 teams in the United States Hockey League.

The Wild are 25-11-4 with 54 points, second in the Central Division. Going into Tuesday night, they have won three straight games but are 5-5-0 in their last 10 games.
