Will the Philadelphia Flyers trade Morgan Frost?
Philadelphia Flyers winger Morgan Frost finds himself in the unenviable position of being in John Tortorella’s doghouse this season. He’s spent more games in the press box than on the ice so far, and now it might be time for both parties to move on.
Frank Seravalli had more details on the Frost situation in Philly on today’s Icebreakers segment on Daily Faceoff Live.
Frank Seravalli: The situation with Frost has been simmering under the surface. No goals, no assists in six games played, and seven games he’s sat as a healthy scratch. That is certainly captured the attention of not just Frost himself and how flippantly John Tortorella has answered “no” about if it’s hard to make a decision to sit Frost back out again, that certainly captured everyone’s eyeballs and raised eyebrows around the league. This is a guy that had 19 goals and 46 points last year. Kind of hard to figure why he hasn’t been more of a fit in the Flyers plans age-scheme wise with where they’re heading next.
But here’s the thing, in order to make any sort of transaction happen, the interest would need to ramp up because there’s been a number of teams I’m told that have called, but nothing that’s risen to the level that you would think that he’s going to be out the door today, but I think the longer this drags on, the more it might be one.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Interesting. I wonder if maybe there’s not a spot there with a struggling team around the league who’s maybe got another young forward and it’s maybe just struggling player for struggling player. Is that the best path forward here maybe?
Frank Seravalli: Maybe. I think the Flyers should rightfully want something for a guy that basically touched 20 goals last year. The problem is it’s like this chicken and the egg thing, like you need to see him produce again, and if you’re really going to ask for value, you better demonstrate the value and show that he has value to you, and instead he’s sitting in the press box.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Yeah or else you could be getting 50 cents on the dollar for this guy.
