As the trade deadline approaches every season, there becomes the question of which teams should go all in at the deadline to capitalize on a window for the Stanley Cup that could shut in an instance. Sometimes it’s a team that is having their best season yet and wants to capitalize on it by getting even better, and sometimes it’s a team that is on the verge of seeing their window slam shut due to age or the salary cap, but in those types of scenarios, it makes sense to use all the assets you have to win now.

Frank Seravalli talked on Daily Faceoff Live about how if any team should go all-in this season, it’s the Winnipeg Jets.

Tyler Yaremchuk: One of the trade deadline articles we got over the weekend was Matt Larkin taking a look at the “go all-in” teams around the league. Who is the most interesting “go all-in” candidate for you ahead of the deadline?

Frank Seravalli: For me, we did it as our Daily Faceoff round table, some seriously varied answers and mine was the Winnipeg Jets. Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck didn’t resign for the distance, to see this team hoard draft picks, not as well as they’ve played and as well as they’ve defended this year. And yeah, the Jets hit the brakes on a little bit of a skid and have some questions going into it.

But for me, this defense core, even their whole roster overall, they’re not a very young team. Cole Perfetti is the only guy on the roster that’s under 23, and so I think they’re right in that primary to win. They’ve been conservative with their assets for the most part for the last few years. This is a time to really go for it when you’ve got Connor Hellebuyck at his all-time best.
