The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed defenseman Colin Miller to a two-year contract worth $1.5 million per season, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Monday afternoon.

Miller, 31, split the 2023-24 regular season between the Jets and New Jersey Devils, collecting four goals and nine points in 46 games while averaging 15:42 of ice time per night.

The Jets acquired Miller from the Devils ahead of the 2024 trade deadline in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. The 6’1″ right-handed defender appeared in one game for the Jets in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, picking up an assist.

The Los Angeles Kings originally selected Miller in the fifth round (No. 151 overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario product spent two seasons with the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs to begin his professional career before being traded to the Boston Bruins in 2015 as part of the Milan Lucic trade.

Miller began his NHL career with the Bruins in the 2015-16 season and established himself as a regular the following year before being selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft. In his first year with Vegas, Miller set career highs with 10 goals and 41 points in 82 games before helping the Golden Knights reach the 2018 Stanley Cup Final.

After his second season in Vegas, Miller was traded to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 2021 second-round pick and a 2022 fifth-round pick. He lasted three seasons in Buffalo before signing with the Dallas Stars as a free agent in 2022.

Through 512 career games over parts of nine NHL seasons with the Bruins, Golden Knights, Sabres, Stars, Devils, and Jets, Miller has collected 39 goals and 166 points. He’s added four goals and 13 points in 41 career playoff contests.
