Jets sign Dylan Samberg to three-year, $17.25 million contract

The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenseman Dylan Samberg to a three-year contract with an annual average value (AAV) of $5.75 million, according to The Athletic’s Murat Ates.

The 26-year-old Samberg was a restricted free agent and on his way to arbitration, which would have led to a one-year deal that walked him to unrestricted free agency in July 2026.
Two days ago, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Samberg and the Jets had filed for arbitration and were $3.5 million apart, with Samberg asking for $6 million per season and the Jets offering $2.5 million.

Samberg’s last contract was a two-year, two-way contract which had a cap hit of $1.4 million.
In 2024-25, the 2017 second-round pick had six goals and 14 assists for 20 points, averaging 21:08 of ice time in 60 regular-season games. Nineteen of those 20 points came at even strength. He also played in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording three assists.
Across parts of four NHL seasons, the Saginaw, Minn., native has nine goals and 42 assists for 51 points in 216 career regular-season games. In 23 Stanley Cup Playoff games, he’s recorded three assists.
Samberg also spent parts of two seasons in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose, recording one goal and 18 assists for 19 points in 64 career regular-season games.
Before making his professional debut, Samberg played three seasons with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, recording nine goals and 44 assists for 53 points in 109 career NCAA games.
The Jets finished the 2024-25 regular season with a 56-22-4 record and 116 points, clinching the Presidents’ Trophy for the first time in franchise history. They were eliminated by the Dallas Stars in six games in the second round of the playoffs.
