The Arizona Coyotes’ off-season firesale might not be finished yet.

According to Craig Morgan of AZ Coyotes Insider, the team is content with keeping @Phil Kessel around, but the veteran winger has apparently requested a trade. Morgan went on to report that there isn’t much interest in Kessel around the league and the Coyotes are fine with waiting to shop him ahead of next season’s trade deadline.

The Coyotes have completely torn down their roster this summer. After missing the playoffs for the eighth time in nine seasons, the Coyotes traded away captain @Oliver Ekman-Larsson and @Conor Garland to the Canucks, @Darcy Kuemper to the Avalance, and allowed @Alex Goligoski, @Jason Demers, and @Antti Raanta to walk in free agency.

Kessel had a solid season for the Coyotes in 2021, leading the team with 20 goals and 43 points over 56 games. He carries a $6,800,000 cap hit for one more season and has a no-trade clause in which he can decline a trade to eight teams in the league.

Over 15 years in the league, Kessel has played for four different teams, has scored 391 goals and 904 points, and has won the Stanley Cup twice. He’ll turn 34 years old in October.
