Jonsson-Fjallby has a goal, two points, 27 SOG and a -4 plus/minus through 24 games but will head to the press box as a healthy scratch Tuesday as Kevin Stenlund makes his NHL debut.
Jonsson-Fjallby was a fifth-round pick in 2016 and split his 2022 season between the AHL and NHL. During his time with the Capitals, Jonsson-Fjallby had two goals and two assists in 23 games. He will likely battle with Dominic Toninato and Morgan Barron for playing time in the Jets' bottom-6.
Jonsson-Fjallby will draw into the lineup for Daniel Sprong, who will be a healthy scratch. Jonsson-Fjallby has one assist in eight games with the Capitals this season and 21 points (10G / 11A) in 26 AHL games.
Jonsson-Fjallby bounced around on the waiver wire before the season started, ultimately ending up back in Washington. The 23-year-old forward has scored three goals with four assists (seven points) in his first nine AHL games and Monday would be his NHL debut if he plays.
Jonsson-Fjallby was claimed off of waivers by the Sabres last week but quickly returns to Washington. The Capitals were the only team to put a claim in for Jonsson-Fjallby, so he was eligible to be sent to the AHL. The 23-year-old winger had 10 goals and five assists (15 points) in 31 games with Hershey last season.
