Alex Nedeljkovic News

Nedeljkovic stopped 37 of 39 shots in an impressive 5-2 victory vs New Jersey in his only start of the season. He backed up Ville Husso in the Red Wings' 5-4 overtime loss Monday, the last time the Wings took the ice. They head to Chicago for a very good matchup as they take on a weak Blackhawks team who ranks 29th in the NHL in GF (2.33) and 31st in SOG (23.0).

Nedeljkovic will make his first start of the season in the second half of the Red Wings' back-to-back as they take on New Jersey Saturday. The 26-year-old struggled in his first season in Detroit in 2021-22 posting a .901 SV% and 3.31 GAA while winning 20 of 52 games started.

Nedeljkovic missed the morning skate due to illness and head coach Jeff Blashill called him a game-time decision. Either way, it sounds like Thomas Greiss gets the start and Magnus Hellberg will serve as his backup if Nedeljkovic is unavailable.
