Stalock made 35 saves on 37 shots in the Wild’s win in Calgary 10 days ago. Stalock has only started two games this season, but he’s played well enough to earn another start tonight vs. the Jets. So far, he has stopped 73 of the 79 shots (.924 SV%) that he has faced. However, the matchup is far from ideal, making Stalock a risky spot-start option.

Last season, Stalock spent most of the season with Iowa (AHL), where he went 23-17-1 with a 2.28 GAA and .926 SV%. It was a strong season for the former Sharks’ backup, who has a 2.35 GAA and .912 SV% in his 64-game career. He draws a pretty difficult matchup in his first start as the young Hurricanes are expected to bring a lot of offence this season.

Stalock was 3-5-2 with a 2.94 GAA and .884 SV% in nine starts and four relief appearances last year and signed with the Wild this offseason. He was always viewed as the No.3 option behind Devan Dubnyk and Darcy Kuemper, so this move is no surprise.

Stalock, 28, struggled with the Sharks last season, going 3-5-0 wit ha 2.94 GAA and .884 SV% before being demoted to the AHL and eventually traded to the Maple Leafs as a part of the James Reimer deal. The Minnesota native signed with his hometown team where he will battle with Darcy Kuemper for Devan Dubnyk’s backup job.

Stalock, 28, has gone 3-5-0 with a 2.94 GAA and .884 SV% with the Sharks this season and 2-0-0 with a 1.96 GAA and .930 SV% with the Barracuda (AHL). With the Sharks looking to make a playoff run, they needed a more reliable backup netminder, so they moved Stalock in order to acquire Reimer.

Stalock has gone 1-2-1 with a 2.18 GAA and .899 SV% on home ice this season, but makes for a decent spot-start tonight.

Tampa Bay comes in averaging 2.29 goals per game over their last seven.

He comes into play on Sunday with a 2.85 GAA and .894 SV% this season. He will take on a Blue Jackets team that has won four of their last five contests.
