Hammond starts Sunday vs. the Capitals.

Hammond allowed two goals on 38 shots in the Senators win over the Blues last Saturday. Craig Anderson started the first two games this week, but Hammond will start in the second game of the back-to-back. He draws a rough matchup vs. the Capitals, who are also on a back-to-back. Hammond is 2-2-1 with a 2.19 GAA and .936 SV% on the road.

Hammond allowed two goals on 20 shots in the Senators loss to the Devils on Wednesday. Craig Anderson got the nod last night, so Hammond will start the second game of the back-to-back set. He has not recorded a win since November 12th and comes into play at 2-3-2 with a 2.42 GAA and .923 SV% on the season.

Hammond allowed three goals on 33 shots in the Senators loss in Tampa Bay on December 20th. Hammond has lost both of his starts since returning from injury, allowing a combined five goals on 57 shots (.912 SV%). Tonight he will face the Devils for the second time this season—he gave up four goals on 32 shots in a 5-4 shootout loss in the first meeting back in October.

Hammond allowed two goals on 25 shots in the Senators loss in Washington on Wednesday. It was a solid return to the crease for Hammond, who will get the nod tonight in Tampa Bay. Overall, Hammond is 2-1-2 with a 2.36 GAA and .929 SV% on the season and tonight he takes on a banged up Lightning team.

Hammond has not played since November 12th because of a concussion. That night he stopped 33 of 35 in a 3-2 win over the Canucks. He has gone 2-0-2 with a 2.42 GAA and .930 SV% in four starts with the Senators this season. Hammond’s return to the crease will come with a very difficult matchup when he takes on the Capitals in Washington.

Hammond suffered an undisclosed injury in Sunday’s practice that will likely force him to miss at least a couple of days. There was no information on the nature or severity of Hammond’s injury, but Matt O’Connor was called up so look for Craig Anderson to start on Monday vs. the Red Wings.

Hammond has faced a high volume of shots in his first three starts this season—averaging 36 shots against so far. However, he appears to enjoy the heavy workload, because he has posted a strong .926 SV%. He makes for a decent spot-start option with the 7-4-5 Canucks in town.

Hammond allowed one goal on 30 shots in the Senators win in Detroit last Friday. It was gammoned first win of the season and tonight he will go for No. 2 in Carolina. He has allowed a combined five goals on 62 shots (.919 SV%) in two outings. He is a strong spot-start option tonight vs. a Hurricanes team who has scored just 2.08 goals per game.

Hammond surrendered four goals on 32 shots in the Senators loss to New Jersey last Thursday. It was an inauspicious start to the season for 2014-15’s surprise of the year. He will get another crack at proving last year was no fluke when he takes on a struggling Red Wings team tonight in Detroit.

Craig Anderson started the first six games of the season, but the Senators will turn to Hammond tonight vs. New Jersey. He was incredible at the end of 2014-15, going 20-1-2 with a 1.79 GAA and .941 SV% to get the Sens to the playoffs. He won’t be able to sustain those numbers, but he should make for a good spot-start tonight vs. the Devils.

Hammond returned to practice eon Tuesday and will travel with the team on their upcoming two-game road trip. The Senators have a back-to-back on Wednesday and Thursday and Hammond is expected to start one of those two games.

Hammond has missed the first three games of the season with a groin injury, but he returned to practice this morning which is a good sign that he is progressing towards a return to the crease. Craig Anderson has played very well so far, so there is no need to rush Hammond.

Hammond is expected to miss at least two weeks with a groin injury.

Hammond was slated to start Thursday’s prison game, but was scratched because he suffered the groin injury. The injury will now force him to miss a couple of weeks and likely the first five or six games of the season. Ottawa will look to Craig Anderson to lead the team, however they have two sets of back-to-backs in the first week and a half.

Hammond had below average numbers with Binghamton (AHL). He was 7-13-2 with a 3.51 GAA and .898 SV% at the time of his call-up. However he was a changed man once he got to the NHL. The Hamburglar has gone 20-1-2 with a 1.79 GAA and .941 SV% in the first 23 stars of his NHL career. He is 2-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .945 SV% vs. the Habs.
