Anton Forsberg News
Forsberg was originally claimed off of waivers by the Hurricanes as insurance before they waived Alex Nedeljkovic but with Nedeljkovic clearing, they no longer needed Forsberg. Winnipeg lost Eric Comrie on waivers last week, so Forsberg fills their No.3 goalie hole.
The Hurricanes put Alex Nedeljkovic on waivers on Tuesday, so they claimed Forsberg in case they lose Nedeljkovic tomorrow. Forsberg was with the Hurricanes last year, going 1-1-0 while allowing eight goals on 78 shots (.897 SV%) in three games. He signed with the Oilers this offseason but was waived Monday.
Forsberg signs with the Oilers to provide organizational depth at the position. The 27-year-old will likely be the starter in Bakersfield (AHL) after going 15-9-2 with a 2.95 GAA and .905 SV% in 27 games with the Charlotte Checkers a season ago.
Forsberg was pulled after he gave up three goals on 20 shots in the Hurricanes overtime loss in Montreal last Saturday. With a back-to-back on-tap, Forsberg will face the Islanders on Saturday and Alex Nedeljkovic will likely start Sunday in Pittsburgh. He is 0-1-0 while giving up a combined six goals on 52 shots (.885 SV%) in his first two NHL starts of the season.

Forsberg was called-up when Petr Mrazek and James Reimer got hurt. He served as the backup for the first two games but will face the Avalanche tonight. He was 15-9-2 with a 2.95 GAA and .905 SV% in the AHL when he was called up. The 27-year-old comes into Friday at 11-24-4 with a 3.21 GAA and .901 SV% in 45 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Blackhawks.
