Anton Stralman News

Stralman (upper-body) will undergo treatment and will be re-evaluated in one week.

Stralman has not played since November 8th and will miss at least the next three or four games. Erik Cernak has played well in Stralman’s absence, so there’s no need to rush the veteran defenseman back in the first half of the season.

Stralman (upper-body) is doubtful for Monday.

Stralman has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury and is likely to miss his fifth consecutive game on Monday. The Lightning have four games this week, so there will be plenty of opportunities for Stralman to re-enter the lineup.

Stralman (lower-body) is expected to return to the Lightning lineup on Sunday.

Stralman has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury, but was back on the ice this morning and will likely play in Columbus. Stralman has just 11 points (4G / 7A) in 35 games but is leading the NHL in plus/minus at plus-24.

Stralman (undisclosed) will not play on Monday; expected to miss three games.

Stralman left Saturday’s game vs. the Sharks with an undisclosed injury and did not return. Stralman will not play in the Lightning’s first game of a five-game road-trip and head coach Jon Cooper would not commit to Stralman playing on the trip, and added that he will likely miss the first three games.

Stralman (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision on Friday.

Stralman missed Tuesday’s game with an illness, but could be back in the lineup on Friday. He is listed as a game-time decision, so monitor his status when the Lightning hit the ice for warmups at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Stralman (undisclosed) is not on the ice for warmups; will not play on Tuesday.

Stralman was a late scratch on Tuesday when he did not come out for warmups. There is no word on what is ailing the veteran defenseman, but consider him day-to-day until more details are released. He will be replaced by Luke Witkowski, who was recalled from Syracuse (AHL) earlier today.

Stralman working on the Lightning’s top power-play unit.

In his first season in Tampa Bay, Stralman averaged 2:28 PP/TOI per game, which was way up from the 0:45 PP/TOI he averaged in three years with New York—the increased playing time resulted in 14 PPP (2G / 12A) after he had just four PPP in the previous three seasons. Stralman is once again working with the first PP-unit to start the 2015-16 season, so it looks like the Lightning plan to use him in the same way as last year. He had a career high 39 points (9G / 30A) a season ago.

The Lightning have signed Anton Stralman to a five-year deal worth $22.5 million.

Stralman had 13 points (1G / 12A) in 81 games with the Rangers this season. The Lightning freed up a lot of cap-space ahead of July 1st, and they gave Stralman a nice contract. The 27-year-old Swede had a strong postseason and will be a reliable defenseman on the Lightning blueline for the next few years.
