Niemi has gone 2-0-3 with a 1.73 GAA and .951 SV% in his last five starts, but has a tough matchup with the Stars in town.

He has played a lot better as of late, allowing just seven goals on the last 149 shots (.953 SV%) that he has faced.

Unfortunately, he draws arguably the worst matchup on the slate tonight against the Lightning.

Despite his poor play, Niemi could be in line for an increased workload in the interim, as the Habs announced today Carey Price is out indefinitely with a concussion. He draws a pretty good matchup at home tonight against the Rangers.
Niemi’s last start came on Wednesday, where he allowed two goals on 25 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Avalanche. After an awful turn with the Penguins to start the year, Niemi has played well for the Canadiens, posting a 2-2-1 record with a .933 SV% in five starts for the team. He draws a difficult matchup tonight against the Golden Knights.
