Pouliot had 33 goals and 37 assists (70 points) in 113 games in his first two seasons in Edmonton, but struggled a year ago leading to a buyout. The 30-year-old winger goes from being overpaid to potentially one of the best value contracts in 2017-18 free agency. Pouliot will likely play on the second or third line behind Evander Kane and is capable of posting a 20-20 season if he can stay healthy.
After posting 34 and 36 points during injury riddled seasons in his first two years in Edmonton, Pouliot struggled mightily in 2016-17, recording just eight goals and six assists (14 points) in 67 games. Pouliot was entering the fourth year of a five-year contract that carried a $4.0M cap-hit. His buyout will save the Oilers $2.66M against the cap this season.
Pouliot will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game. Drake Caggiula returned on Saturday and will remain in the lineup while Pouliot watches from the press box.
Pouliot has just three goals and one assist in 18 game this season and is currently on a 11-game pointless streak. Pouliot will be replace by Drake Caggiula, who will be making his NHL debut after missing the first 18 games with a hip injury.
Pouliot suffered a shoulder on Sunday and could miss the remainder of the regular season. With Pouliot out, Nail Yakupov is expected to move into the top-6 on Connor McDavid’s line.
Pouliot was not on the ice for the Oilers’ morning skate and will be held out of the lineup on Wednesday with the Bruins in town. With Pouliot out, Ilro Pakarainen will get a look on the second line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Teddy Purcell. Pouliot is listed as day-to-day.

Pouliot missed Sunday’s game against the Hurricanes with an illness and will be a game-time decision tonight vs. the Red Wings. At least tonight the Oilers will get Anton Lander back, so they will not have to go with seven defenseman.
Pouliot will be held out of this afternoon’s contest vs. Carolina because of an illness. The Oilers do not have an extra forward, so Keith Aulie will dress as a seventh defenseman .
The Oilers take on the Senators at 2 pm ET, so there obviously will be no morning skate. Monitor Pouliot’s status during pre-game warmups at 1:30 pm ET.
Pouliot will miss his fifth straight game with a foot injury. Pouliot remains day-to-day.
Pouliot’s movement to IR means that he will be not in the lineup on Tuesday. He is eligible to be activated from IR whenever he is healthy. His designation to IR created an opening to recall Ryan Hamilton from Oklahoma City (AHL).
Pouliot took part in in the Oilers morning skate, but will not be in the lineup tonight vs. the Devils. It will be the third straight game that he has missed, however his participation this morning is a good sign that he could be back on Tuesday vs. the Islanders.
