Horvat has been out since December 5th but traveled with the team on their current road-trip and it looks like he may return to the lineup in Winnipeg on Sunday. Horvat had a really nice season going prior to getting hurt, collecting 20 points (10G / 10A) in his first 28 games—a 59-point pace. Horvat was featured on a line with Brock Boeser before the injury, but he was practicing with the Sedin Twins in Friday’s practice.
Horvat underwent an MRI on a leg injury that the suffered against the Hurricanes on Tuesday. The original prognosis is “not good” and it sounds like Horvat could miss up to a month and a half. Expect a full timetable to be released from the Canucks shortly.
Tonight will mark Horvat’s ninth game of the season and he is here to stay. There was some speculation that he might be available for Team Canada in the World Juniors this December, but that won’t be the case. Horvat has looked like he has belonged and picked up one goal and three assists in his last two games.
Horvat had a solid NHL debut on Tuesday, recording a plus-1 rating with one shot and one blocked shot in 8:52 of ice time. With Alex Burrows returning to the lineup tonight, Horvat will be the one who sits.
Horvat, 19, has no points in five games with Utica during his conditioning assignment, but will draw into the lineup on Tuesday with Tom Sestito out indefinitely with a lower-body injury.
Horvat's two weeks conditioning stint is up and has been recalled. Horvat failed to record a point in five games in Utica. He could be in the lineup on Sunday with Alex Burrows suspended.
Horvat has been out with shoulder injury, but sending him on a conditioning stint is a good sign that the Canucks are planning to keep Horvat with the big club. He can stay with Utica for a maximum of two weeks.
Horvat, 19, has missed time due to a shoulder injury suffered in the preseason, but he is nearing a return which means he is nearing his NHL debut. The 2013 ninth overall pick had 30 goals and 44 assists (74 points) in 54 games with the London Knights of the OHL last season. He is a big body at 6-foot, 206 lbs. and is ready to make an impact at the NHL level.
